Bereavement Weekend

The Smile for Georgie Foundation recently funded the Youth Commission’s “Residential Weekend” which was attended by 11 inspiring young people who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. The weekend was hosted by Youth Commission staff, ably assisted by professional volunteers. The young group took part in a variety of fun activities but were also encouraged to take time for reflection. They quickly developed a team spirit that showed great compassion and empathy. The children explored resilience and the ability to recover from disappointment. The weekend was drawn to a close with a powerful session that gave them all the space and time they needed to ask questions.

We are very pleased to have sponsored a weekend which has had such a positive impact on many children from a vast array of backgrounds. Well done to everyone involved and to all of our supporters that enable the charity to support these amazing initiatives ????
