10sMile Kayak Challenge

On Sunday the 7th July the Smile For Georgie Foundation provided water sport enthusiasts, of all skill levels, with the opportunity to kayak or paddle board along the spectacular west coast of Guernsey.

Twenty kayakers and four paddle boarders took to the water for the bay-to-bay challenge, from Rousse to Portelet, supervised by the Outdoor Guernsey team who ensured that every participant had a safe and enjoyable passage.

The weather conditions were perfect and ages ranged from a 9 year old accompanied by her dad in a double kayak, to Georgie’s grandpa aged 81 who was admirably paddled down the coast in a double by Peter Brewin.

Over £1,700 was raised for the Foundation as a result of the enormous effort made by everyone involved and also through the support of Outdoor Guernsey, who donated their time and all proceeds from the equipment hire to the Foundation.

Plans for the 2020 challenge are now underway ????
